Did he actually choose Texas?

Ella Langley says he did. I'm not convinced.

Writing songs to investigate what really happened in “Choosin' Texas” until Ella Langley makes me stop.

Witness statement · Form 001Case #001

What do you think happened?

Did he actually choose Texas?

For the record: where are you testifying from?

Theory #001

He didn't choose Texas.

Pencil reconstruction: at a crowded bar, a woman in a cowboy hat looks over her shoulder at her boyfriend laughing with a blonde woman. FIG. 1
She saw him with his ex.
Pencil reconstruction: close-up of her hand sliding truck keys off the bar beside an unfinished drink. FIG. 2
She made up her mind.
Pencil reconstruction: a pickup truck drives away down a dark, empty highway. FIG. 3
She drove away.
Pencil reconstruction: the boyfriend pushes through the bar door into the night, searching the parking lot. FIG. 4
But then he came outside looking for her.

There was only one reasonable way to investigate this.

I wrote his song.

The Boyfriend's Story

“I don't think he chose Texas.”

Everybody knows what she thinks happened. He chose Texas. She left. But then I watched the video: she drives away… and he comes outside looking for her.

So what if he didn't choose Texas?

Episode 01 storyboard, nine pencil panels: Nashville night; the ex appears; uncertainty; decision; driving away; he realizes; too late?; the open question — did he actually choose Texas?; next, the investigation begins.
Production file Episode 01 storyboard — the reconstruction, panel by panel. (panel 8 is the whole case)
Pencil drawing: the boyfriend sits alone on a pickup's tailgate at night, hat in hand, guitar beside him.
